{ strippy hourglass blocks }

Today between re-arranging my kitchen and going to 10+ garage sales I managed to complete my quilt blocks for the Old Red Barn Co.'s Quilt Along! It feels great to have them done and I am so pleased with how they turned out! As I said the other day I decided to change it up a bit and do my blocks a little differently than the Quilt Along instructions.

Yesterday I cut my pieced strips into 40 12.5" blocks using my 12.5" square ruler and my rotary cutter...

and then I turned 20 of those blocks into...

and the other 20 into...

The next step will be to arrange the blocks on a design wall (or design living room floor as the case may be!)... and then sew them together.

What are you up to this weekend?

  1. The blocks are beautiful. I am hoping to have time to try some dyeing this weekend. So far, no luck.

  4. Cindy my mom started creating a quilt years ago which was 3 triangles to create a larger triangle which in turn used 4 of the larger triangles to make a square, similiar to yours. She used old clothes from 40 years ago...it is not finished, she has done other quilts since then. One day hopefully it will be done. I look forward to seeing yours finished.
