{ quilting class }

Today I thought I'd share a few pics of the quilting class that we are teaching to a group of Middle School students. The students are making a quilted pillow and they are doing a really great job, especially considering that some (most) of them had never even used a sewing machine before! So far we haven't lost any fingers to the rotary cutters... and that is a good thing!There's Rhonda demo'ing rotary cutting!

What are you up to this fine Friday? The girls have a Pro D (no school!!) so we're enjoying a relaxing day at home (sewing, cooking, cleaning). I'm working on a Bento Box quilt, so I hope to have all of the blocks put together today. I've been trying to use up some of my large fat quarter collection. For the Bento I've used all Fat Quarters that I don't like... it should be interesting to see how it turns out! Why do I even have Fat Quarters that I don't like? Well, over the past year or so I have found some great deals on bundles of FQ's. Sadly, 85% of them are not my style at all, but I feel the need to use them anyway!

  1. Looks like the girls are doing a great job!! Is this an after school club at the school or something?

  2. Cindy, those pictures are wonderful! Those girls are doing an awesome job!

  3. Oh I love the class! I just found you via Just Us Quilters. I don't have much about quilting on my blog because I don't get to do it at home much. But it is my passion. I also teach! I teach teens that have been in trouble with the law and are in a halfway house and also kids in jail. I love teaching they are so much fun. I am glad to find a fellow teacher. I will come back often! Thanks for sharing.
