{ gift for you }

Good Morning,

Finally, I have a card to share with you! I have many "card parts" sitting unassembled and neglected on my desk, but I am having a heck of a time actually completing some cards lately! I need to start using sketch challenges, I think, to help me get some cards done.

{ blog presents }

This mystery package arrived in my mailbox yesterday from someone in Utah... I think it may be blog candy I won awhile ago. If it was from you please let me know so I can say ... THANK YOU! I love this Lizzie Anne set and all the pretty little embellishments. What a nice treat!

I received these 2 Royal Doulton place settings from Rosella! Thank you so much Rosella! I really appreciate this thoughtful gift!

Rosella knew that I was collecting these dishes so she asked me if I wanted another 2 place settings. Of course I said, YES PLEASE! I now have 7 place settings so we can use them when we have people over for dinner. These are the dishes that I was collecting stickers for last year so I could redeem them at the IGA (grocery store).

My stamp sale is going great, but there's still quite a bit left. If there's something you're interested in, I am willing to break apart the "lots", just let me know what you would like and I'm sure we can work out a deal.

Have a good day!

Looks like spring has arrived... I love the little surprises popping up all over the yard. We just moved into this house a few months ago, so we had no idea what was planted.

{ glow vellum tutorial }

You Can Make This!

The Glow Vellum Technique is one that I had published in the May - June 2003 Canadian Stamper Magazine. This is a technique that utilizes wide double-sided tape, pearl ex (or similar product), and vellum to create a very shimmery, but subtle look.

Stampin' Supplies: Double-sided tape that is as wide as your stamp, stamp, palette or stazon ink, pearl ex or similar product, paint brush, stipple brush, light weight vellum (acetate also works for a different look).

Stamp your image on vellum. Heat set or let dry.

Apply tape over stamped image being sure to cover the entire image.

Remove backing from tape. Do not touch the tape with your fingers.

Choose a few colors of Pearl Ex that will look nice together. (I used to use Moonglow, thus the name of the technique)

Dip your dry paintbrush into the pearl ex and tap the paint brush on your finger so the pearl ex will sprinkle onto your tape.

Continue adding pearl ex until your image is nicely covered.

Use a dry stipple brush to blend and spread the pearl ex.

This is how the back of your image will look once it's covered in Pearl Ex.

Now get a new piece of tape and apply it over the pearl ex. Leave the backing on for now.

Trim your image.

Voila!

Now you can peel the backing off to apply your image to your card. I like to use a white piece of card stock directly behind the glow vellum piece to make the pearl ex stand out more.

Here is my finished card:
Here is my magazine spread from 5 years ago!

Please let me know if you decide to try this technique. I'd love to see your finished projects!

SmilynStef tried my technique... you can see her gorgeous card HERE!

{ 08.08 }

Hello,

We are well into February and this is only my 8th card design of the year! That's ok, I have done a lot of sewing, so it's not like I haven't created anything. mrgreen

For this card I re-visited an old technique; one that I had published in the May - June 2003 Canadian Stamper Magazine. I wouldn't mind putting together a tutorial for this "Glow Vellum" technique, if there is any interest. So, please leave a comment here if you want a tutorial! cool

Have a great day and enjoy the sunshine!

PS. I know my blog looks the pits right now. I am trying to think of a new springy design for it.

{ knitting }

Here's a sweater I knit awhile ago and gave to my cousin's adorable daughter. I just wanted to show you how cute it looks on! I used a Bee's Knees Knits pattern by Holli Yeoh and self patterning wool.

{ pretty purple polka dot pinwheels }

Hello,

Here's what I'm working on right now! It's going to be a quilt for one of my favorite kids in the whole wide world. :-)

To make the half square triangles I am using Thangles. Other than pinning the paper strips to the fabric strips they are lots of fun to use and you get a {pretty well} perfect triangle every time.

{ valentine's day treats }

Mmmm.... look what I just made! I used Betty Crocker's Decadent Chocolate Cake with Raspberry Sauce recipe. Yesterday I made Martha Stewart's Valentine Heart Pops for my girls to give their classmates.

Did you make anything special for Valentine's Day?

{ is your house clean? }

Hello,

Is your house clean? If it is, you're probably not stamping enough. mrgreen

So, here's the first card I've created as Guest Designer for Hanna Stamps. Isn't she cute?! I just love all her cleaning supplies and, of course, her gorgeous wavy hair. What a fun stamp set!

Card Details:

* The Hanna images were colored using Prismacolor pencil crayons and just a white pencil crayon to blend the colors a little.

* I made the glittery flower by cutting 2 flowers out of the patterned paper, covering them with 2-way glue and then dipping them into a container of dazzling diamonds glitter from SU.

* Cardstock: Bazill

* Patterned Paper: unknown

* Vellum: SU

* I used Nestabilities with my Cuttlebug for all the scalloped shapes, of course.

Scrappy Log Cabin Cupcake Quilt

Good Morning!

I have completed the scrappy log cabin cupcake quilt top that I started the other day! It helps to have multiple snow days in a row. Now I just have to figure out how I want to quilt it. I was thinking of machine quilting it myself with some variegated thread... maybe in a random stipple pattern?? (which I have never done LOL). First I need to find a darning foot for my sewing machine, I guess.

For the quilt blocks I used this Scrappy Cabin tutorial.What a fun technique. I'll definitely do this one again. I was able to use up most of my scraps in this quilt. I just have a small bag of Moda Chocolat scraps left that I plan to use for pillow cases.

Have a fun day in the snow! Or, if you're cooped up inside, why not do a little baking! How about Cranberry Lemon Loaf? It's so yummy!
