{ criss cross apple sauce }

Throw some whole apples in a pot with just a splash of water. I've only removed the stems and the bottom thingy from the apples, but left the core & the peels intact.

Simmer over medium heat until the apples turn to a ball of mush and sort of explode out of their peels.

Dump into food mill placed over a pot or bowl and turn the handle. Add a little honey & cinnamon.

Mmmm! Warm apple sauce to serve with pork chops. (or breyers double churn french vanilla ice cream)

  1. that looks absolutely yummy! do you can some too or just make as you need it? it's the canning part that I hate.

  2. what you see in the photo is all I made this time! It was just a little test batch to try out my new food mill. I will make a bunch and freeze it in canning jars once we get some more apples. I don't can. I can can, but I don't.

  3. I will have to go and buy a mill. What a great idea. I have one done tomatoe sauce with a mill. Thank you for sharing that with us.

  4. That looks delish! I love homemade applesauce and you made it even easier!
