{ quilt for Clare }

Hello,

The sun came out so I was finally able to take some photos of my quilt! Let's see... what can I tell you about the making of this quilt? I used Thangles to make the half square triangles for the pinwheels. The yellow fabric is silk, the rest is 100% cotton. I used 100% cotton batting. The binding is pieced with all the different fabrics that I used in the quilt. The binding method I use is Heather Bailey's continuous binding with mitered corners. I love how neat it looks when it's done and I also enjoy the whole binding process. Partly because it means the quilt is *so* close to being done and partly just because it's fun!

This is the first time I've tried my hand at free motion quilting with my sewing machine. I must say, it was a "tad" frustrating... but by the end I was getting in the groove and starting to enjoy it so I'd definitely try it again. Hopefully I will get better at it with each quilt. I used Sulky variegated thread around the borders and then Sulky Invisible Thread for the pinwheel area. If you have any questions please leave a comment here and I would be happy to answer them for you.

Have a nice day!
