{ cupcakey goodness }

These are the cupcakes I would've made for our sale on Saturday if Friday would've had an extra 2 hours in it. mrgreen I made them today for my family instead. The recipe I used can be found HERE. I love the Kraft Foods magazine! It's free and it's full of lovely recipes that use normal ingredients.

{ baby blanket }

Good Morning!

Here's a beautiful, soft blanket I started on last summer and then set it aside for a few months. My mom recently added the nice scalloped border for me so it is now complete! My little (almost 3 year old) nephew has a crocheted blue blanket that he is very attached to and he has named it "buh". When he saw my crocheted afghan in a bag he pulled it out and asked if it was a new "buh". So cute.

{ it's a girl! }

Here's another cutie of a card I made a few days ago. I love the extra bit of sparkle from the stickles on "baby". The diaper bag stamp is from Stamping Bella (I may have to take this stamp out of my for sale pile LOL), the background stamp is from Stampin' Up! and the baby stamp is a $1.50 stamp from Michael's. I'm not sure why I'm so into baby cards lately. mrgreen This one will be available for purchase at our big sale or will (hopefully) be sold in a store. I have about 50 cards all packaged up and ready to sell. I just need buyers!

{ quilt for Clare }

The sun came out so I was finally able to take some photos of my quilt! Let's see... what can I tell you about the making of this quilt? I used Thangles to make the half square triangles for the pinwheels. The yellow fabric is silk, the rest is 100% cotton. I used 100% cotton batting. The binding is pieced with all the different fabrics that I used in the quilt. The binding method I use is Heather Bailey's continuous binding with mitered corners. I love how neat it looks when it's done and I also enjoy the whole binding process. Partly because it means the quilt is *so* close to being done and partly just because it's fun!

This is the first time I've tried my hand at free motion quilting with my sewing machine. I must say, it was a "tad" frustrating... but by the end I was getting in the groove and starting to enjoy it so I'd definitely try it again. Hopefully I will get better at it with each quilt. I used Sulky variegated thread around the borders and then Sulky Invisible Thread for the pinwheel area. If you have any questions please leave a comment here and I would be happy to answer them for you.

Have a nice day!

Good Morning!

Here's another cute little card I made last weekend. I know it's a very simple layout, but I like it! The bunny is from Stampin' Up! and is colored with my new copic markers. This is the only card I've made lately with no Stickles! *shocking* LOL The green ribbon was some I found in the $1.50 bin at Michael's awhile ago. You can find some even prettier stuff here and here.

I'm waiting for the sun to come out so I can take a picture of the quilt I completed yesterday. It looks so soft and rumply now that I've washed it. I don't pre-wash my fabric *gasp* before I make a quilt because I love it when it shrinks up a bit afterwards. It gives it such a warm, cozy and old feel.

When I was part way through making this quilt I read a review on another blog about the Clover Bias Tape Maker. So, of course, I ran out and bought one right away thinking it would be such a time saver and would make my quilt binding even neater, etc. When I got the thing home and opened it up I found that the directions were really poor and it seems like it would only make a very narrow bias tape - way too narrow for a quilt. Do you have any tips for me? I would love to make this work. mrgreen

Have a nice day! See you later with a quilt pic!

{ 13.08 }

Good Morning!

Here's another card I made over the weekend on my card making spree. I used my new Lizzie Anne stamp set, the SU polka dot stamp, and a touch of stickles on the button. See the cute embellishment in the center of the flower? It's a yo-yo that my daughter (10) is into making. She's made a whole pile of these and wants to sell packages of them as "Card Candy" so she can save up for a pink digital camera!
Notice the zig zag stitching detail done with the sewing machine?

(Scroll down to find out how to get free stickles)

I'd love to get some of this personalized ribbon to pretty up my etsy packages! Has anyone ordered it before? Just wondered how nice it is in person. That reminds me... I sold my first quilt on etsy the other day - very exciting! Here it is all packaged up, ready for mailing.

Have a fantabulous day!

PS. Thanks to the 4 of you who signed up for Google Adsense yesterday!! Just need a few more then I can buy a stamp set LOL.

{ not the best card, but I'll show you anyway }

Good Morning,

Here's a Hanna Stamps card that took me two days to complete. mrgreen Somehow this card just looked better in my head than it does on paper, but oh well. The blob on the upper right is actually 3 flowers cut out with the cuttlebug on patterned paper. You can't win 'em all. LOL

{ simple and cute }

Yesterday this cute little stamp arrived in my mailbox from Hanna Stamps. After school my girls, the girl I babysit and I all sat down at the kitchen table and made cards like this. Nice and simple, but cute!

This stamp set was a gift I received from a sweet lady(Jennifer R.) who reads my blog. She wanted to thank me for the great deal she got at my stamp sale so she sent me this. Wasn't that nice?! Thank you so much, Jennifer!

Here is the manly moose quilt top I finished yesterday for my little nephew.

{ a quilt top }

I hope you're having a good weekend. The last few days haven't gone as planned at all because my little girl came down the with flu. Poor thing. She is starting to feel better now, thank goodness. Because I've been home most of the time lately I was able to complete this quilt top! It's a quilt I'm making for my niece for her birthday. We'll be getting together with my sisters and their kids in less than two weeks. I can't wait! I don't get to see them nearly often enough.

Sorry this isn't the greatest photo. It's dark right now, but as soon as I completed pressing the last seem I had to take a photo and immediately post it to my blog. I know, blogging is a sickness. LOL

I picked up some awesome moose fabric to make a quilt for my nephew today. I finally explored Hamel's clearance area. Wow! Lots of good deals there! I also picked up my March Thangles.

Talk to you soon.
