{ poll & a prize }

Hello,

I would like to poll all of my stampy & scrapbooky blog readers to find out which types of stamps you prefer and why. I will do a draw from all the comments (pls leave your answer here as a comment, not an email). The winner will receive the card I posted right below this post and a clear birdie stamp!

Do you prefer:
1) Wood mounted red or grey rubber stamps.
2) Un-mounted red or grey rubber stamps.
3) Un-mounted clear stamps.

If your preference is un-mounted stamps, what do you use to mount them on?

Also, another question... do you prefer to buy your stamps in sets or individually.

Winner will be drawn on Friday, June 8.

I'm looking forward to reading your opinions!

Cindy

  1. I'm really not too picky about what kind of stamps I prefer but I do like unmounted ones. And I mostly use UM rubber. I use acrylic blocks with double stick tape on one side. That way the other side is clear for the stamps that I have EZ mount on. I haven't had any issues so far. I'm even thinking of unmounting all my retiring SU stamps. But not for a while because I'm being lazy lately.

  2. Unmounted clear stamps - I wish everyone made them an option! I love being able to see exactly where to put them. I use acrylic blocks for stamping with them but I have used CD cases or even the top from a long Colorbox Palette inkpad when I didn't have a block that long.

  3. Great questions. I like the unmounted clear stamps. They're much easier to store and I really enjoy the fact that it's a lot easier to position them because you can see through the acrylic block. I like sets better than individual stamps because they're already coordinated for me.

  4. I'm not too picky about what stamps I use. If they are cute I will get them. I do like the mounted red stamps a lot better (Out of SU!) because I think that they stamp a lot better and you do not need to press as hard as you do with the clear ones. (Like out of Close To My Heart) I sell Close To My Heart and am a Consultant and would rather use SU! stamps (ooops.. hehe) Also, when I buy my stamps I would rather buy them in a set but I have bought just 1 stamp before. It just depends. Like I said, I am not too picky. I have clear ones, unmounted, mounted, and red ones and I like all of them. What is nice about the clear stamps that are unmounted is that you can see threw onto your paper and you can judge where you want to have your image without messing it up, with a wooden block you can not see threw the block to your paper and sometimes your image doesn't go where it is supposed to. That is an advantage of a clear stamp and block. :)

  5. I have all of these stamps in my collection. While I love the affordability of unmounted stamps, there is something to be said for the feel of a wood block in your hand. I do like clear stamps since you can see where you are stamping and re-position them (i.e., curve them) should you choose. How helpful am I? Not really...I like ordering my SU stamps since they are woodmounted and in coordinating sets but when I do get to order online items, I like the option of unmounted since it is cheaper (esp. to ship). I too use a clear acrylic block with double-sided tape for my unmounted stamps.

  6. I have all types but I find the wood mounted rubber stams give me a clearer image. Some clear stamps just don't do it for me. I love SU, too!

  7. I love the wood mounted stamps. I love sets, but also buy some singles.

  8. I tend to lean more toward unmounted rubber. I use cling foam, stamp the image on it (with Stazon) before cutting out & mounting, & the image is perfectly aligned. I find it easier to clean & put away the unmounted as well & they save a LOT of space in labeled CD cases.

  9. Hi! I prefer wood mounted stamps in either red or grey. I like to buy them in sets because then I know that they go together! (I'm not too good at putting individual stamps together and making it look good.) Thanks!

  10. This is really hard because each has it's positives and negatives. I love the feel of a rubber stamp on a wooden block, but dislike the room it takes up. I am learning to use the unmounted clear stamps and love the way I can place them exactly where I want them to go. I am also liking the unmounted red rubber stamps too cause I can store them easily. I guess if I had to choose, I would choose the clear stamps.

Hi, I love stamps in sets, it is such a good jumping off point! I Love the wood mounted sets, but am learning anew apprectation for the clear ones! Now I am beginning to think about um my mounted stamps! I think though, it will take to much time, so probably wont! Denise Bennett

  12. This is a hard question - I'm just starting to buy clear unmounted -- for the new designs and affordability. But I do love SU! -- I love the products and it was my first intro to stamping, so they will always get my business. But really, I don't care-- I have all 3 kinds of stamps. I buy what I think are pretty and/or cute designs!

  13. I like um's in red rubber sold as individual stamps. I use Tack n' Peel on acrylic blocks to mount them on.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I usually prefer wood mounted rubber, but the clear acrylics are rapidly growing on me. I also like the Bellas, and then I use Cling foam to use them with an acrylic block. BUT I would still have to say I prefer the rubbah on blocks.

    ReplyDelete
  15. I would have to say wood mounted stamps, only because I have never tried the others. I know, I am living in the dark ages. I rarely ever buy individual stamps outside of background stamps. I really like to buy my stamps in sets.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I tend to like unmounted stamps the best. Just for the storage aspect. I have many Stampin Up sets that are mounted.
I use and love the clear stamps, but I don't think they are the same quality as red or grey rubber.

  17. Hi Cindy,
I have always used mounted stamps untill I got the Bella's. Then after I got over my fear of the unmounted stamps, I am thinking I like the unmounted better. I also like to but the stamps in sets.

  18. I prefer Un-mounted clear stamps with an acrylic block. I like being able to see exactly what I'm doing. I prefer sets too.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Because of space, I love unmounted and I'm not picky about rubber vs acrylic. I use acrylic blocks and usually put a layer of a respositionable glue on them, and store them in CD cases. And I definitely like to be able to buy just one stamp (don't always want all of the set). Great question!

  20. I love them all and have all :) I love clear stamps because I can see where I stamp!!!

  21. Hi Cindy!
Personally I am a wood mounted girl. I have some stamps each way but definately prefer the wood mounted ones best!! Also, how do you get your post to stay at the top? I have blogger and have never been able to figure it out, lol

    Thx,
    Cori

  22. Mounted baby! I will buy some images as UM or clear, but only cuz I love the image. I don't care whether it's sets or singles... I just buy what I love

    ReplyDelete
  23. I don't have much experience with UM stamps... I like having my stamps ready to go already mounted on a wood block. And I like having them in sets so that I have images that are sized to fit together.

    ReplyDelete
  24. When I started stamping I was using the unmounted clear stamps and only a few months ago attended my first stampin up party...I definately far prefer stampin up stamps, the image is so clear and much easier in my opinion then unmounted. Of course its nice with clear stamps being able to see exactly where you are stamping but I haven't run into too many problems with the wood mounted ones. Okay I'm babbling lol....Charlene likes wood mounted stamps best :o)

    ReplyDelete
  25. I'm a SU! girl all the way so I like the woodmounted style the best. And while I like to buy whole sets, I tend to fill in with single stamps.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I love the new craze for clear/unmounted stamps but I think I'll have to agree with some of these gals here that my heart is set on the wood stamps. It's what we know stamps to be although I can be swayed...love your site!

    ReplyDelete
  27. I tend to use my mounted stamps more than my unmounted. I guess the main reason is I can open a drawer to see the stamp instead of going through plastic file folders for unmounted stamps. I don't have a problem (yet!!) with space. Having said that - the clear unmounted stamps are much easier to postion where you want them. Price wise the unmounted make a better option but I think if money was no object I would go for mounted. I never used to buy in sets but love making cards with a theme so sets are the way to go. Also rubber tends to give a better stamped image with most inks than the clear stamps.

    ReplyDelete
  28. That's hard. I like them all!! I'm just starting to get into the clear stamps (thanks to Papertrey) and I like the ease of storing those as sets. I have all types and mostly I need to like the stamp itself before I care how it's mounted or what it's mounted on!!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I don't find that I have a preference when it comes to buying stamps. For me it's all about the images. As for prefering to buy them in sets, again it depends on the set. I find that with most sets there are stamps I don't like and therefore won't use. Some SU sets I won't buy because I have similiar stamps or there might be just a couple in the set that I really like. I love the affordability of the clear unmounted stamps as well as they take up less space to store them. I find that I am able to get a good image using them on an acrylic block. I also like the affordability of the unmounted red or grey rubber stamps as well as they are easier to store. These I also use with an acrylic block. Since I have only been stamping for 2 years I haven't really formed an attachment to wood mounted stamps. Nor do I have an attachment to a specific brand of stamps. If I like the set, I'll buy it and the same with individual stamps. The stamps that I do have that are mounted will remain mounted and I'll just have to find a better storage system if that becomes an issue.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I prefer wood-mounted stamps, but that could just be habit. I had some UM rubber stamps a few years ago, and I never remembered to pull them out. I've got a few of the clear stamps now, but I've had trouble with classis ink beading up on them.

I have tons of individual stamps, if I see something I really like I don't worry about having stuff to match it (although sometimes having coordinating images IS convenient).

    ReplyDelete
  31. well that's a changing thing each day it seems. I used to only like SU mounted sets. However, I love the idea of being able to see exactly where my image is going to stamp. Also, I have found some great individual stamps at Michael's that I like by Kolette Hall. I can't decide - seems i like them all - ha!

    ReplyDelete
  32. I have only ever used wood mounted stamps. I see all of the clear stamps people are using, but I haven't started buying any of them. Maybe I fear how they will work because I haven't used them....worrying they will stay in place when you stamp and such.

I love buying sets from SU and I don't normally buy individual stamps unless they are from the Michael's dollar bin. Sometime I find one on it's own I HAVE to have, but it's very rare.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I prefer wood mounted rubber, but do like to use the clear unmounted alphabets for the ease of putting words together quickly and neatly!

    ReplyDelete
  34. I have only ever used wood mounted stamps.....don't own any others so I don't know what my preference would really be. I do like buying stamps in sets though. TFS :o)

  35. I have all 3 kinds, but prefer clear stamps. It's so nice to see exactly where I'm stamping, and as long as you buy good quality, the impressions are good. My unmounteds are on EZ mount foam to use with my acrylic block. I really love sets, but I've seen so many super cute individual stamps...I just can't get them locally and by the time they get to Canada, it ends up costing me a bundle. Sets are more economical!!
Thanks for the giveaway....(I want that bird!!)

  36. I like the wood mounted for ease in use but I love the clear so that you can see what your doing. I like to purchase both sets and individual stamps.

  37. WOW what a beautiful card and sweet candy you are giving away. I prefer mounted. I do have unmounted and just use 2 way glue, but I think I might try the EZ mount. I also have acrylic stamps and use acrylic blocks. I put my unmounted in CD cases and that way you can put the stamp image on the front to see what is in them. I would have to say I prefer sets.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I like wood mounted red rubber stamps and I love to buy in sets so that I can have several coordinating stamps to use, although I have been known to buy others. Thanks for sharing. Beautiful card, too.

  39. Hi Cindy!
My first preference is still wood mounted stamps, although I'm warming to unmounted rubber and clear stamps!

    Do you prefer:
    1) Wood mounted red or grey rubber stamps.
    2) Un-mounted red or grey rubber stamps.
    3) Un-mounted clear stamps.

I normally buy in sets ... .butI'm an "equal opportunity" stamper, if there's a single stamp I like I will buy it!

  40. I am falling for the unmounted clear stamps lately!! I love that they take up such little room and that I can see where I am stamping!!

    ReplyDelete
  41. unmounted clear in sets for the most part. Good luck! Thanks for the blog candy offer!

    ReplyDelete
  42. I like stamps in sets, since I know they will work together. I prefer wood mounted stamps. As for UM stamps the clear ones are the best.

  43. UM red rubber with EZ mount and a clear block would be my preference. I like the smaller sets or singles as they are usually less expensive.

    ReplyDelete
  44. What a pretty card!! I have 'em all, needless to say. I do prefer unmounted, whether they be rubber or clear. I store the clear stamps in CD cases and mount the rubber stamps on EZ mount and store those in 3-ring binders with a list of the categories on the spine for easy reference. I have to say I don't choose my stamps by whether they be mounted or unmounted -- it's by what "grabs me." :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love the clear unmounted stamps because they take up so much less space in my very small room... I just use the clear blocks and then put them back on the sheets to store them, but I have found a couple of the block stamps that I really wish they made them in the clear stamps though.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I like all. I prefer mounted stamps, but I love my Bella stamps unmounted, don't have a problem with that. Clear stamps...they have to be good quality otherwise I don't like the impression they make. But they are easy to store and position...
I buy sets, and individual ones. Can't just go one way. :o) I wasn't a big help, was I? You just have to have different options.

  47. wood mounted, red rubber, sets.
    Just because !

    ReplyDelete
  48. I really like mounted stamps to use but unmounted in terms of money and storage. I find I don't actually use my unmounteds that much though. I am a visual person so I love being able to see the image on the wood mounted block though I do stamp and categorize my Ums. If I need to line up my images and can't see through the wood, I use my stamp-a-ma-jig. As far as the color of rubber goes....no matters.
I love buying my stamps in sets because then I KNOW they are going to work together. I do buy some stamps that are not sets though.

  49. I prefer the wood mounted red rubber stamps sold in sets.

I'm not too picky and have been a SU person so I would've said mounted. However, I've just ventured into Bellas and CTMH and have been using the unmounted ones and it is really nice to see exactly what you are doing.

    ReplyDelete
  51. hey how did you get a birdie stamp! I couldn't find one around here! we still need to meet up :) I like all kinds of stamps. I love unmounted as they store better! Im just too chicken to unmount my Stampin up! I use the EZ mount from TAC for my Bellas! I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  52. I like the unmounted rubber that I can mount on wood blocks. I also prefer stamp sets although I used to think it was better to buy them one at a time! Now I know that it's nice to have them complement each other! Thanks for asking!

  53. Good Poll!!
I prefer mounted red rubber in sets :) Sounds like a SU! fan huh :)

    ReplyDelete
  54. Well, if I like the design and the price is right, I buy it, but I think I really prefer the wood mounted rubber. I have been buying more unmounted if available because I'm running out of room to store the wood mounts. I have all three types and as I use them I'm getting more at ease with the unmounted & acrylics. I use acrylic blocks for the unmounted rubber and acrylics. My problem is that "out of sight - out of mind" with my unmounted stamps. I can see most of my wood mounted stamps on my shelves and tend to use them instead of thinking about my unmounted stamps.

    ReplyDelete
  55. i'm not sure if i have a preference on mounted, rubber or clear. but i do like that unmounted stamps take up less space. i do like to buy sets of stamps instead of individually.

thanks for offering the blog candy!

  56. I prefer the wood mounted red rubber stamps. I do have lots of the acrylic stamps and I have lots of the unmounted grey stamps and I use some of them, But I do *love* the wood mounted stamps best. I love the detailed images that I get from wood mounted stamps better then the acrylic. I have quite a few of the unmounted stamps by Stamping Bella and I have to say that they also give me a terrific image. Hope my answer was not to confusing.

  57. I normally buy wood mounted stamps. However I have started getting some unmounted rubber stamps and I enjoy using them. They are Bellas and I just use double stick tape to put them on an acrylic block and then peel them off when I'm done. I don't have any clear stamps yet. Also, I normally buy a set of stamps but I have been known to do both! I'm really not a picky stamper. If I like the stamped image I'll buy the stamp. But if I'm given a choice I'll buy them mounted on wood blocks.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I was used to wood mounted red (SU!) for so long until recently when I got into Bellas (grey unmounted) and use on acrylic block with double-sided tape-easy. Then papertreyink had to come out with THE cutest sets of clear acrylic & I LOVE the sotrage of them (clear CD) and the fact I can SEE where I'm stamping!!

  59. I buy all of the above, but I lean more toward Stampin up sets. I have clear and unmounted both.

  60. I love the wood mounted stamps. I hate having to mount and unmount every time I use a stamp. I also like purchasing them in sets...images along with words in one set are the most versatile for my tastes!

  61. I'm a relatively new stamper, having been introduced through SU! workshops. So, I guess I'd say I prefer SU! stamps because that's what I know and use. I did recently order some clear stamps and acrylic blocks. Haven't tried 'em, but they look promising. I love getting coordinated sets of stamps, but have bought individual stamps as well. I'm still experimenting. Ask me again next year....

  64. I prefer wood mounted rubber in sets. Love SU. But I also like the acrylic, but seeing as most of my ink is dye based, it's harder to use the acrylics.

Hi! PIck me, Pick me. :) I LOVE the card that you created!!

    Okay, to answer your questions:

I prefer red rubber and find myself purchasing unmounted due to cost.

I do have all mixtures of clear, mounted and unmounted--

The only sets I purchase are the SU! because my bestfriend is a consultant (gets me in a lot of trouble!!), but if there was a set that I liked I would purchase.

My unmounted I either use tacky or my hermadots on an acrylic handle.

I do not favor any kind of stamps. I have many SU stamp sets, Whipper Snapper and Inky Antics. These are all wood mount. I all so have a few The Angel Company stamps, two Close to My Heart stamps sets. I just bought rhonna farrer set set nature the cute little birdies. I really do like the clear unmounts stamps as you can see where the image will be on the paper. But I am not picky, I buy what I like!

  70. I really like wood mounted stamps...I dont care what color & I like to buy in sets if I can although I am really starting to like Acrylic stamps by Papertrey which are mounted in the CD cases & using acrylic blocks.

    ReplyDelete
  71. Although I have, and love, all types of stamps, right now my preference is unmounted, clear stamps. Storage was really becoming a problem for me, which is the reason I started buying clear; however, I now know that the "clear" makes it so much easier to place your stamp. I store my stamps on CDs.

    ReplyDelete
  72. I prefer wood mounted stamps in sets. However is SU sold clear sets too, I'd buy them.

  73. Hi! I have all types of stamps, and basically buy for the image. I really prefer the clear unmounted the best. I love the ease of placement, and storage and I also like to combine different stamps on the same acrylic base to create a different look. When I buy new stamps with rubber, I no longer mount them to the wood blocks. I save the space and use either the sticky tape that comes on so many of them, like SU, or use Tack 'N Peel tape to mount them.

  75. I prefer wooden mounted stamps in a set. But any stamps are awesome.I normally get unmounted wood stamps from stampin up,but hey when I see a good deal of mounted ones,I grab them. It takes so long to mount them, especially when you have a big order, but it's fun too.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Generally, I use the rubber mounted red(SU)......but, have started to purchase the clear acrylics. I do like the acrylics because you can see where you are stamping.....also, for storage, they take up FAR LESS space.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I prefer UM rubber stamps. I use them on acrylic blocks with 3M poster tape. I've been doing it that way for years... The stamps are easier to clean and take less space and weight to store.

    ReplyDelete
  78. I prefer wood mounted stamps and I like buying sets -- frankly they're easier to "file"/organize. I have some of course not in sets, and I mix and match stamps from different sets, but I like the "jumping off point" I get with a set. I'm interested in what your poll turns up though!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Hmmm...so far I prefer the wood-mounted stamps. I've only just begun using clear, acrylic-mounted stamps. I do like the ease of just grabbing the desired image and being able to stamp it immediately w/o having to find the right sized acrylic block...mount the image...etc. Lazy much? yeah! :)

I like to use unmounted, preferably rubber, no matter the color. I am not as fond of the clear stamps as I feel their image is not as crisp. I use acrylic blocks to mount them. I love unmounted due to storage issues, I can have so many sets accessible with minimal space taken up, and, I love my stamps in sets, takes away alot of the "Well what goes with what" especially if you are in a hurry. Thanks for the question! Have a great week!

    ReplyDelete
  83. I prefer acrylic unmounted stamps. The storage is so much more friendly. Also, I like begin able to see exactly where to put it.

I like to buy sets if I like most of the images and it is a good deal. Otherwise, I like the freedom of the individual stamp.

ohhh, create your own set . . . now there is an idea!

  85. No because I am a SU demonstrator but.....I love wood mounted ONLY! I tried the acrylic and do not like the images or how they stamp...so it's WOOD for me...the color of the rubber doesn't matter!!

  86. I have them all but it seems that I use the wood mounts the most. I prefer to buy in sets. I use acrylic blocks with my unmounted sets.

  87. I've been collecting and using wood mounted stamps for over 10 years. Though I've just started to use clear acrylic and enjoying them, so far, I'm still a hard wood stamper.

  88. I like both clear and wood mounted stamps - I have not tried the unmounted rubber stamps. I really enjoy reading your blog! Thanks for the goodies!

    ReplyDelete
  89. As long as it's a stamp, I'm happy! Each one has it's pros and cons. Wood mounteds look so pretty, and stamp well, but take up so much room. Unmounteds are easier and cheaper. Clear unmounteds are great for positioning.

For unmounteds, I just use glue stick on the back and slap it to my acrylic block. When I'm done, I wipe them both down and voila, it's finished.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I don't care which type of stamps I used as long as I get a clear image. However, the majority of my stamps are the su ones- mounted. I am starting to like the clear stamps though!

  91. Hi Cindy - I am lazy and I think I prefer regular wood-mounted stamps. However the downside is that space is a concern. I am fast running out of space, and have to keep purging old stamp sets to make room for the new. Second question - I prefer to buy as a set, just like SU stuff, since this way you have a coordinated set to do a complete card or creation. And you have options.

  92. At this point I'd say the mounted wooden stamps because that is what I'm most used to. But I have a feeling that once I get the jest of the unmounted ones, I'll like them much better. I already like the fact that they take up so little space and that you can see where you are displaying them easier. Plus the fact that they are less expensive:)

As much as I hate dragging out the stamp positioner I do still prefer wood mounted stamps! While the clear acrylic are nice for positioning I really don't care for having to take them out of their packaging and finding the right size block to put them on and then clean them and put them back in their packaging. I prefer sets but have many individual stamps as well.

  94. At the moment I prefer wood mounted stamps. The color of the rubber is of no concern to me. I am just starting to up clear stamp and am using acrylic blocks. Reading others comments are giving me plenty of ideas on how to mount the clear stamps.

  95. I like unmounted clear stamps. So nice to see exactly where you want them. As far as buying them in sets or singles...It all depends for me, if it's a really cute set then definetly. However sometimes singles can mix and match and have a more unique look!

  96. I buy stamps more in sets, probably because I started stamping with Stampin Up!..that's also why my comfort level is with mounted stamps, although I recently have begun to use unmounted. I have no idea what the difference is between red and gray rubber, and often wondered about that myself..I enjoy your blog!

  97. I use and buy any and all kinds of stamps. I clear are nice when you are having to position other stamps with each other so that you can see what you are doing and placement. I have all kinds in my collection. Jackie ~~

  98. I guess I'm a little old fashioned. I still prefer the wood mounted REAL rubbah. I like the feel of the wood in my hand when I'm stamping. But I'm slowly and surely buying a few more clear stamps to save on $ and storage.

  99. Used to be SU! red rubber stamps mounted on wood blocks but slowly growing my collection of clear acrylic stamps. I like that I can get the same image and easy clean up with the red rubber stamps but not the same case with clear acrylics - flower stem, placement of leaves - and clean up w/acrylics is messy for me. Can't stand the staining with dye inks on the clear acrylics which I mount on acrylic blocks, btw. Sus.

  100. I only have rubber mounted wood stamps. I've never used clear stamps. Almost all my stamps are from stampin up, therefore, I only really have sets.

  101. I prefer SU! I have a few CTMH clear stamps, but don't have as much success with them. I like the sets, but if I see a good buy on a single stamp I pick it up. By the way, I love your card.

  102. I am in between at the moment!! I have just been introduced to unmounted clear stamps and I am LOVING them! I like to see where the image is going, and it makes 2-step stamping a whole lot easier!

So I guess I would have to say my preference is the clear stamps. I am really new to it, so I have just been sticking them onto the acrylic block (I think that's all you're supposed to do!).

  103. I LOVE stamps, so I use them all. Especially since when I started wood mounted red rubber was pretty much the only option. But, I have to say that I really enjoy using clear unmounted stamps and clear blocks. It's just so easy. And they are so easy to store using CD cases or storing them in sheet protectors in a notebook. And I will use double stick tape to stick them if the stamp is not a cling type.

  104. I'm so new to the world of unmounteds but it's opened up a world of possibilities to me. I love the solidness of wood mounted rubber stamps but love the space savings of unmounted. Most of my stamps are wood mounted rubber (Stampin Up) but since I've discovered unmounted acrylic, I'm in love. I prefer rubber mounted on wood and clear acrylic on acrylic blocks--I love being able to see exactly where I'm stamping and I'm too lazy to try to figure out how to use a stampamajig!

  105. I am not very picky either. I do like the acrylic block with the clear stamps, but I haven't purchased many since I am in a SU club. So, mostly I have SU's wood mounted.
    Love your blog!

  106. I'm a creature of habit, so I'm most comfortable with the mounted stamps. But I wouldn't hesitate buying the clear stamps if I love the image.

  107. Totally prefer unmounted clear stamps- they are THE only way to go!

    Love your blog...

  108. Hi Cindy,

I just had to comment on this one. I am a SU (hobby) demo, and I have to tell you I do not mount my new stamps when I get them! I like to be able to place them as I wish and see where I am stamping.

I don't care if they are clear or made of regular rubber - I prefer them unmounted!

I remove all foam and adhesive from my stamps - then I put them on acrylic blocks with plain old Elmer's glue stick. It holds the stamp in place for as long as I need it to be on the block, can be removed and put back on a bit later, and best of all, it washes off with warm water when I clean the stamp!

If you are wondering how I get a clean image, it is really simple. I usually stamp on a pad of paper, a magazine, or even one of the foam rubber pads that are made especially for that purpose.

With all of those advantages you would think I would stop there, but there is one more advantage. I store them in CD jewel cases. At the moment I have over 200 CD cases full, and some of those have multiple sets or individual stamps that are theme related!

I can only think of one real disadvantage, and it doesn't apply to me since I am just a hobby demo. I wouldn't be able to use them if I held a workshop since I have not mounted them. But, there is little chance of that, so it is a non-issue.

There is one other thing I might mention. I am a hoarder (as are many of us) so I just can't make myself throw away those unused wooden blocks. I usually mention that I have blocks to give to good homes as long as they are willing to pay the postage and they are taken off my hands right away. Many times the takers will ask what they will need to pay, but I tell them I expect nothing in return. If they want to surprise me that is ok, but I would like to think they would just do something nice for someone else somewhere down the line.

As you can see, I am sold on unmounted stamps. Hope that answers your questions.
