{ a little red & white on a wednesday }

Hello,

Yesterday the girls were both home sick so I decided to start on a quilt using the fabric I got on my birthday shopping trip with Andrea.

I decided to go with a red & white theme using all cotton fabrics cut to 3"x3". One some of the white squares I will embroider a little picture using red embroidery floss. Then I plan to tie this quilt rather than quilt it and may add a few buttons here & there. Although it is a baby quilt, so I'm not sure about the safety of the buttons.

I plan to add borders to the quilt to make it a little bigger. I actually have many many squares left over so I'll be able to make another couple of these quilts. Next time I will know to use more squares and then I can have a nice narrow border.

What creative things are you up to this week?

Cindy

  7. Mmmm - this will be one gorgeous quilt, but I think you're right - might be better not to have buttons for a baby quilt!

  11. Love red & white together & your fabric assortment! As I was thinking about baby bedding the other day I thought about maybe adding some funky buttons but then realized, "nope can't do that!" I'm really anal about choking hazards (better to be safe than sorry) so I too agree with no buttons if it's for a baby!!! Can't wait to see the finished project though! Have you ever made the quilts that are sewn reverse so that they fray at the joins? My sis-in-law made one for my last babe in earth tones & I love it! Maybe I'll e-mail you a pic for fun!
