{ quilt progress }

Hello!

Look what I sewed tonight! This is the center of the quilt I'm making Rachel for Christmas. When it's done each square will have a flower appliquéd in the center complete with leaves and a vintage mother of pearl button. By the way, does anyone know where to get such a button? I need 41 of them! There will be flowers appliquéd all over the wide border as well.

This is a fun quilt to make (so far). It's nice that you don't have to worry too much about matching points.

The next step will be continuing to cut out the flowers and leaves and then I will trace the design for the vines on the borders. The vines will be embroidered and then I will machine appliqué the flowers into place. I am hoping to machine quilt this one myself.

Did you notice I'm starting a list of stamping tutorials on the right? I've been collecting a few from Allison's awesome blog. If you have a tutorial on your blog I'd love to add it to my list! Please leave a comment here with a link for me and I'll add it right away. Thanks!

Happy Easter!

Cindy

    Buttons? I buy all kinds at a little flea market shop here in our town. I use them all the time for stamp and scrap projects. I'll see if there are any pearl ones next time I go there as 1-2 booths in the flea market always has tons of old buttons. I like to use them for vintage scrapbook pages. Of course it will be tricky to find that many of the same style but it is worth trying. I'll be there today or tomorrow and I'll let you know if I find any. Another possibility would be searching EBAy.

  15. What a pretty quilt! I'd suggest looking for buttons on ebay or at flea markets. You might even be able to use all different ones or just a couple of different kinds if you can't find enough of one kind.
