{ it finally happened }

Tired of your messy ink pads? Organize them neatly with a Craft Rack!

My beloved Cuttlebug's B plate finally bit the dust! I've only had my Cuttlebug since Christmas, but I guess it's been getting quite the workout lately. To see all the gory details just click on the sad little photo to the left. Does anyone know if Provocraft gives out free replacements for these? What about Michael's? I think they should make the top B plate out of a semi-flexible material to prevent this breakage from happening. Maybe if we all bombard Provocraft with this idea they will do something about the design flaw.

ETA: I phoned Provocraft and they were all friendly and helpful and said they'd definitely send me a replacement - no questions asked.... UNTIL they realized I am in Canada! They flat out refused to send me a replacement because they said it would cost too much to mail it here. I find it a little frustrating that they don't seem to offer any follow up support to Canadians when we have a problem with one of their products. They suggested I try getting Michael's to give me a free replacement. I phoned Michael's and spoke to a manager and explained the situation. He didn't seem very eager to help, but finally he agreed to replace the broken plate for me. When I got to Michael's they gave me a package that had 2 of the B plates in it. So, I am happy now that my cuttlebug is back in working order!

  1. I did read somewhere (but I can't find it now - maybe on the Provo Craft website) that they are replacing defective plates. The Big Shot had the same issue when it first came out but they seem to have solved the problem - maybe Provo Craft will do the same.

  2. Hi Cindy;

    Craft Critique posted a review on the cuttlebug today and they said Provocraft is very good at replacing the B plates. Check it out.

  3. Hi Cindy! Check out my review of the Cuttlebug today on Craft Critique. I called less than 2 weeks ago regarding my broken plate (you gave me the number, remember?), and they are sending my a plate. It's worth a shot. The phone # is in the review on Craft Critique!

  4. I don't know what the Cuttlebug plate is made out of, I have an Accucut Zip'e Mate. I buy new plexiglass pieces at a local plastics place. They cut them to size and only charge a couple of dollars.

  5. Well I have to say miss Cindy in the end this was proby a good thing because your B plate was getting a wee bit used and a back up is always good to have. I was very happy to hear at least Michaels gave you two...kinda makes up for some of the hassle:)

  6. I'm glad you finally got a new plate plus a bonus for all your trouble! I'm one of the 5 that signed up for the Bella Stamp Kit Club...should be fun! Can't wait to get mine! Do you know how much extra mailing time there will be since it is coming from Canada? It's gonna drive me crazy to see your neato stuff and not have mine yet!! :0)

  7. I had phoned provo craft about a problem with a die. There were two of the same size flower in the package instead of the next size up. Anyways, I phoned and they're sending me one, even though I'm in Canada. So, maybe try again and see who you get?

  8. My plate broke from use but Michaels sells them in packages of 2 for $7.99 and you can use a 40% off coupon. They sell all the plates and they are all inexpensive.

  9. My B plate broke in three different places! I didn't even think to ask for a free replacement! Glad you got one! I really do think they should make them out of a stronger/more flexible material. I hadn't even used mine for a month before it broke!

  10. Looks like they've changed their tune about shipping to Canada... I've had my cuttlebug just under a month and one of the B cutting plates cracked over the weekend (and it didn't look nearly as "used" as yours does in the picture Cindy !). Anyhow, I phoned ProvoCraft this morning, and they're sending me a new one, they didn't say anything about my Canadian address at all. Yay !

  12. What I did was took my B plate to a plastics company and it was the same type of plastic and the exact same standard thickness, I bought 30 plates for $10. I don't think I'll ever need any more.
