{ blog candy - win my purple bella card }

Please leave a comment on this post if you'd like to be entered to win my purple bella card (shown below). I will also throw in a few do-dads (embellishments of some sort)! In your comment please answer this question: What is your favorite meal to cook and why?

I'll randomly pick a winner on Friday, February 9 at 11:00 pm. Feel free to spread the news about my blog candy. If there are over 100 entries I will throw in and extra surprise. Don't forget to check back on Saturday morning to see if you're the lucky winner!

I'm working on a *really* exciting blog candy for the weekend, too, so you won't want to miss that!

  1. Wow, first to post?? My favourite meal to cook is oven-fried chicken, roasted potatoes, and a salad. It's a pretty ordinary kind of meal but everyone in my family will eat it without complaining. With 4 little kids, that's all you can ask for!

  2. My favorite meal to cook is Strudel (not the fruit kind, but an old recipe from a couple generations back that is like rolled noodles). I love to cook it because my 2 grandsons go completely wild over it & give me lots of hugs & compliments - what could be better than that?!

  5. Great card :) Ummm - I'd say my favourite meal to cook is a "stovetop stuffing chicken breast thing" - chicken breasts, mushroom soup, cheese slices & stovetop stuffing! It's super easy, tastes great & being that my DH likes chicken better than turkey - we've even had it the odd Thanksgiving & Christmas dinners! Another fave is cauliflower soup!

Hmmmmm, I can't really think of a favorite meal to cook, but if I were forced to pick something (becides the opportunity to eat out and NOT cook!) I'd pick speghetti since it is easy to cook and I can "whip" it out just about any time I need something "quick I've been on the internet too long again!" ;)

  30. I love cooking breakfast. I think waffles are my favorite right now. (although my 2 year old wants pancakes for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!) If my husband has to work late and its just me and the kids, we always have breakfast for dinner!

  31. First of all let me say that I love your bella cards...I may have to have some of those bella stamps...anyway, I love to cook CHILI! When I was married only 1-1/2 years, my mom passed away suddenly. As we cleaned out her house, I decided to take her chili pot. I was sure that all that was needed for replicating her great chili, was the pot! Well, I decided that since I didn't have a recipe, I was going to have to "wing it"! And guess what? The chili is perfect -- every time! I am not sure if I have my memory or my mom's pot to thank!!

Every time I cook with that pot (mostly it's used for chili now...) I think about my mom and all of the wonderful things she cooked in it.

  32. I am not a big cook...(I love eating out) but I would have to say that my favorite thing to cook is a grilled cheese sandwich. I love the way the butter makes the bread all toasty. Plus, the kids gobble them down and don't fight me about what's for dinner and I don't end up messing it up somehow. LOL! For an adult taste, I add good cheese, muenster or swiss or a combination, for the kids, they prefer American! Simple but yummy every time! You are so talented! Thanks for sharing! Lisa Keeffe

  43. Hi Cindy,

I love to cook and love to try new things, I grow tired of the same ol same ol. Here's one of my favourite dinners lately. I like it because I feel like I'm taken a way a bit to Thailand..I can dream, cause I know I'll probably never get there for real! lol :)

Here's the recipe. Give it a try, my husband and kids love it, too.

    Almond Thai Chicken

3 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cooked then shredded
    2 tbsp. almonds, chopped
3 celery stalks, chopped on the bias
2 carrots, chopped on the bias
1 cup raw white onion, diced
    2 cups raw bean sprouts
    2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
    1 tsp. ground ginger
    1 tbsp. Low-sodium soy sauce
    4 garlic cloves, minced
    nonfat cooking spray
    2 cups Thai noodles, cooked

    1. Cook chicken, shred, set aside.
    2. Spray large skillet with cooking spray. Add onion and cook 1 –2 minutes; add carrots and celery and sauté over high heat 1 –2 minutes.
    3. Add chicken, garlic and ginger to pan and sauté over med-high heat, until chicken is no longer pink.
    4. Add broth, bean sprouts and soy sauce and bring to a boil.
    5. Reduce heat and simmer.
    6. Stir in cooked Thai noodles. Once liquid has evaporated and chicken is cooked through, add chopped almonds. Serve immediately.

    Enjoy!

    Hugs,
    Julie

I like this meal because it makes the whole house smell spicy and it drifts outside so everyone who walks by, stops toget a whiff.
