{ cute little tin }

When we were on vacation this summer I picked up a bunch of Christmas cookie tins for .39 cents each. I thought I would paint the lids (which are shaped like a rooftop) and then cover the bottoms with paper.

Well, I did try painting them, but the paint wouldn't stick, so I scrapped the idea of using the lids at all! I'll just cover the bottoms with paper & ribbon and then put a gift wrapped in tissue paper inside.

  1. Just for future tins......you need to rough them up with sandpaper, prime them with gesso or a metal primer before painting them.
    GREAT JOB scrapping them tho!!!

  2. I was just about to suggest gesso...
    I have papered tins and by sanding them, using a swiffer thing to get the dust off- it gives it "tooth" for the adhesive to stick...then used Krylon's adhesive - the paper is going NOWHERE! lol!
    would love to know where you got tins so cheap! I make homemade candy for my friends and family.... and fill cookie tins :)
